Bloom
Pittsburgh, PA
Joshua Bard, Tonya Markiewicz
Fall 2017
This hanging planter was developed out of the specific needs of the Asian Mint plant. A formal language referring to the organic shape of a blooming flower was developed with emphasis on the natural behavior of piano wire. The joinery used was based entirely on friction and pressure – no fixatives were added. Issues of sun, space, temperature, and drainage were taking into particular consideration.
